Terms of Service
These terms explain how you and Semester agree to work together. They're short on purpose. Read them in about five minutes.
1. What Semester is
Semester is a personal student dashboard: tasks, classes, grades, exams, notes, a focus timer, and flashcards. You create an account, your data is stored in your account, and you can delete it at any time.
2. Your account
You need an email address and a password to use Semester. You're responsible for keeping your password safe. One person per account. You can wipe your dashboard any time from Settings → Data → Reset all data. Full account deletion is being added; for now, contact us using whatever channel you originally signed up through.
3. Acceptable use
We want you to use Semester the way it's meant to be used: as a study companion. Don't use it to:
- Break the law or anyone's rights
- Upload content that isn't yours to upload
- Try to access other people's data (you'd have to get around our row-level security policies, which would take real effort)
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or redistribute Semester
4. Your content is yours
Tasks, grades, notes, flashcards. Everything you put into Semester stays yours. We don't sell your data, we don't train models on it, and we don't share it with partners. We keep it only because you asked us to.
5. Free to use
The core dashboard is free and will stay free. If we ever ship paid features, the basics you rely on won't move behind a paywall.
6. Availability
Semester is provided as-is. We try hard to keep it running, but we can't guarantee zero downtime. If something breaks, we'll fix it as fast as we reasonably can. If a change affects your data in a significant way, we'll let you know in advance.
7. Termination
You can stop using Semester and delete your account any time. We may suspend or end accounts that violate these terms. We'll try to give notice and a reason first.
8. Changes
If we update these terms, we'll post the new version on this page and update the "last updated" date. If the change is material, we'll email you.
9. Contact
A dedicated contact address is coming once we have a custom domain. In the meantime, the best way to reach us is wherever you originally heard about Semester.
